Alessio Bassano is a researcher in the Technology and Innovation (T&I) department and head of the Materials & Energy organisational unit at Leonardo S.p.A., within the Electronics Division.

He earned a master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering in 2004 and a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Technology in 2008 from the University of Genoa.

From 2008 to 2010, he worked as a researcher at the National Research Council (CNR). He has been working at Leonardo's Electronics Defense Business Area (formerly OTO Melara) since 2010, where he leads several national and international research projects.

His expertise focuses on the research and development of electrochromic materials for thermal camouflage, additive manufacturing technologies for military applications, anti-mine and ballistic protection, and numerical simulations of high-speed impact and blast phenomena.
